Makeni, SIERRA LEONE ? The search for the prestigious 2023 EBK-Trophy began in October of this year, and it is set to conclude on Christmas Day. The matchup will feature two formidable teams, Golden Dragons Football Club of Magburaka and Ocean Boys Football Club of Makeni, at the renowned Wusum stadium.
Both teams have emerged victorious in their respective zones after intense clashes and have secured their spots in this year?s EBK-Trophy by defeating their opponents in the semi-finals, which also determined the winners of their zones A and B.
In Zone B, Golden Dragons Football Club displayed their dominance by defeating Hydro Stars Football Club with an impressive score of 3-1, securing their place in the grand finals. On the other hand, Ocean Boys exhibited their strength by triumphing over the reigning champions of the 2021 EBK-Trophy with a convincing score of 2-0 in Makeni. This remarkable achievement confirmed their ticket to the eagerly anticipated grand finals, scheduled to take place on Christmas Day.

Ocean Boys cruised pass Sahid Conteh-U earning place in the EBK Trophy ground finals alongside Golden Dragons. The match Zone A cracker was one of the best matches witnessed by football enthusiast in EBK Trophy this season by both teams as they vied for a spot in the grand finals.
The intense decider took place on Monday, December 18, marking the zonal final for the Makeni Zone at the Wusum Stadium in Makeni. In a fiercely contested battle at every turn both teams sought to secure their position in the highly anticipated grand finals. Notably, Amadu Conteh made a significant contribution by opening the score sheet for Ocean Boys in the 60th minute propelling them to a 1-0 lead. The excitement peaked when defender Tejan Kella displaying a stellar performance sealed the victory with a goal in the 90+3 added time securing a 2-0 win for the Congo town boys. Kella was also decorated with the man of the match award for his outstanding performance.
This victory means that Head Coach Abu 'Zagalo' Conteh boys will be competing in one of the nation's most prestigious football tournaments finale while eagerly eyeing the chance to be adorned with the EBK Trophy's most esteemed silverware.
Meanwhile in Zone B, Golden Dragons demonstrated their supremacy against their district counterpart Hydro Stars by thrashing them 3-1 in the zonal finals at the Magburaka Town Field on Saturday December 16. This progress has as well bolstered their morale with huge expectations of lifting the coveted trophy for the very first time in the club history.
Despite recent tactical reforms by the Magburaka outfit, the Tonkolili giant faces a formidable challenge against a resilient and determined Ocean Boys side. The clash between these two zonal champions sets the stage for an anticipated exciting grand finals on December 25 in this year's 14th edition of the EBK Trophy.
