Kombo Central District Tourney Final

The 2007 CCF Saamasang programme area sponsored Football tournament would play its final on Sunday June 17th, 2007 at the Brikama Mini Stadium better known as Box Bar.

The most awaited final would oppose Penyem FC and Dembo Sanneh FC of Brikama.

According to Dawda Bojang, Kombo Central Sports Chairperson, the aim of the tournament is to give support to youths and children head activities.

Mr. Bojang added that the tournament was a free violent competition, the first of its kind in Kombo Central history.

Mr Bojang, who is a GFA referee by Profession, fined it quite easy to acquire panel of referees, who officiated the matches.

"We held a three day clinic orientation workshop, aimed at educating and sensitizing the team officers, managers on the laws of the games, sports administration and sports ethics. This has yielded us fruits and impact to our success," Mr. Bojang revealed.

It could be recalled that 10 community teams took part in the tournament, which kicked off on May 27th, 2007.


Christian Children Fund (CCF) sponsored Kombo Central District Football Tournament reached its second round.

Last Friday Busura defeated Jamwelly 2-0, on Saturday D.G William drew with Bakary Sambouya 1-1 while Malang Ida Bojang defeated Kitty United 1-0.

The matches continue this weekend on Friday1st June 2007 with Malang Ida Bojang battling with Jamwelly.

On Saturday, 2nd June 2007, Demba Sanneh will play with D.G William.

 On Sunday 3rd June 2007, Kitty United will battle out with Bakary Sambouya.

The 2007 Brikama Nawettan qualifier rounds kicked off last Wednesday at the Brikama Mimi Stadium better know as Box Bar Stadium.

Twenty teams registered for the qualifiers with only five places for the nawettan proper.

The qualifiers matches kicked last week with Amasa FC beating Zurich FC 1-0.

The matches would continue today Wednesday June 13, with Busumbala Sanchaba will battle out with Jarju’s, on Thursday June 14, 2007 Scovil will take on Kassa Kunda.

On Friday June 15th, 2007 Fatato would take on Zurich.


The 2007 CCF sponsored Kombo East District Football tournament reached its semi final stages.

On Saturday 9th June 2007, Pirang will take on Giboro at Pirang football field while on Sunday 10th June 2007; Basoreh will battle it with Kuloroh at Basoreh football pitch.

All matches will be played at 5:00pm.

Bakau Nawettan 2007

Bakau
Bakau league and super cup champions Vidar FC started their 2007 nawettan campaign with a goalless draw against their arch-rivals, Katchically United on Monday at the Bakau Mini-stadium.
The two cadet sides fought a tooth-and-nail stalemate match that saw both sides squandered scoring chances, amidst hundreds of enthusiastic supporters.
Earlier, Junior Arms beat Jazz 3-2 in the opening of the nawettan proper on Tuesday, August 14, before Linguere and J-Fin shared points.
On Thursday, Mamakoto suffered a 0-1 defeat in the hands of Ron Mango in their Group B fixture, while Bantankoto and the newly formed, but popular Africa Magic drew 1-1.
On Sunday, Saul Samba dented Linguere hopes with a 1-0 win before Scan Tours shared points with Sea View, after a 0-0 score line.
At the time of going to press, Magadaan were locking horns with Bantakoto as both seek for a maiden win in Group C.

Old Jeshwang League 2007

As the summer football fiesta takes a centrestage, the Old Jeshwang nawettan championship continues to yield spectacular displays by the participating teams. Last week Monday, Barcelona locked horns with the Dragons, which ended 2-1 in favour of the latter, with Sheriff Manneh hitting the net in the 30th minute.
Fresh from the break, Barcelona came from behind to level the score, after a well-crafted combination earned them a penalty. Specialist kicker, Ebou Minteh was not hesitant to whistle the ball in the net of the Dragons. However, Barcelona's determination was shortlived, when Amadou Jallow of the Dragons sealed a victory, following a startle finishing at the dying minute of the game.

Last Thursday's saw another crowd-pulling encounter between the Uprising and the Galaxy. Abdoulie Camara gave an earlier lead to the Uprising in the first 35 minutes, after his free-kick earned him a lone goal. Two minutes later, Kebba Bah of the Galaxy cancelled the goal difference, before Ebou Jobe added a second goal in the 30th minute of the second half. The game ended 2-1 in favour of the Galaxy.
The match witnessed an ugly showdown when Paul Mendy of the Uprising and Ebou Jobe, were slabbed with red card in the 50th minute for misconduct. Asm if the referee was bent on ensuring sanity in the game, Pa Rena Ceesay of the Uprising was also given a marching order for removing his jersey on the pitch during a late substitution

Friday's match saw the elimination of Wuntang out of the tournament, after suffering a 2-0 defeat in the hands of the Citybasarr. Ousman Joof accounted for the first goal of the Citybasarr's 10 minute intom the match, before another goal gave them a widening advantage after a poor defence by Pa Buba Loum in the 21st minute of the first half.

Saturday's match saw the Dragons resumed in action against Natanga. After a goaless first half, Natanga's resolved to redeem their "forward-pulled" 1-0 victory, thanks to Bakary Daffeh's dazzling finish in the 61st minute. Sang Mendy of Natanga was handed a red card for unsporting conduct.

For the Sunday match, defending champions NPE trashed the Wailers 3-1, with Abdou Njie hitting the net twice. Abdoulie Touray extended the lead later in the match, before Yusupha Mabye of the Wailers narrowed the advantage.

[Aug 12]
The ongoing Old Jeshwang Nawettan tournament has now reached its knockout stage.
Manding Football team was eliminated out of the tournament last Thursday after suffering a 3-2 defeat from Wailers football team.

Wailers drilled Manding and scored all their 3 goals in the first half of the game. Pa Touray from the Wailer team hit the net 1 minute 36 seconds of the starting of the game.

Eighteen (18) minutes later, Lawrence Mendy scored the second goal and added the third 3rd goal in just two minutes after the second goal.

After the break in the second held, Manding came with full determination and Musa Kanteh scored their first goal in the 65th minute before Bamarro Kanteh added a second goal in the 80th minute of the game. The match ended 3-2 in favour of Wailer.

Friday’s match was another encounter between Frankfurt and uprising. This match ended nil but, it was a sad game for the uprising as they went eliminated out of the tourney due to the fact that they loose their first game by 2-1 victory against Galaxy. However, Papa Njie, defender for the Frankfurt team was given a red card for misconduct.

Saturday’s game was another interesting match between the two giant teams, Old Hands and Citybasarr.

Ebrima Bah of Old Hands first scored a goal through a penalty shoot in the first 29 minutes of the game. Ebrima Barrow of Citybasarr cancelled the goal difference in the 35th minutes of the game.

Fresh from break, both teams came with hope and determination and Seedy Joof scored a well crafted goal in the 75th minutes.

However, Abou Manneh of Citybasarr cancelled this goal difference in the 79th minute of the game. Both teams are qualified for the stage of the tournament hence they all won their previous game.

Pirang Nawettan 2007

New Castle United beat Armanti FC 2-1 to clinch the Pirang super title over the weekend.
The keenly-contested final cleared the pavement for the commencement of the nawettan proper that would involved 12 teams within the Kombo North village, with  Africell taking the centre stage as key collaborators.

In the nawettan proper, which commenced on Tuesday, August 14, Manchester drew  1-1 with Rappim FC, while Sunshine edge past AA & CO FC with a 2-1 victory the following day.
On Thursday, Liverpool also joined the winners list after 2-0 win over the famous Bob Marley FC.
